Two Weeks

Yesterday I gave my two weeks to the City of Salem. On Sunday night I was stressing it... I wasn't stressing the fact that I had to tell my boss I was quitting...no, no. I was stressing the two weeks to follow. What would my co-workers say? How the heck are they going to find someone willing to work only until June and then maybe if they're lucking come on full time in Aug? I was working on several projects (nothing huge, but something) and I had created a mini-system of dealing with all of the land use applications, something no one had time for before I came... I didn't want it to wash out with me! Neither did they, I know.

So, on Sunday night I went to sleep and had many a dream. One of them included me giving my two weeks and my boss was just fine with it. Almost too fine...nonetheless, I took it as a good omen and I woke up prepared. I had typed up a letter of resignation (required by contract) and handed it to him right before the staff meeting. Easy as pie. We discussed my resignation in the staff meeting and started brainstorming ideas for my duties to be reassigned. Just like that. I can't believe it was almost like my dream!

Only they did care that I was leaving, which is always comforting.
