Life is Good...even while PMSing

I'm so glad I finally have a plan! I feel like I have something to look forward to besides the Birthday Thursday goodies once a month in the break room...

Friday was my last day at work and I never imagined how good it would feel. I left and it was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I even blasted Kelly Clarkson in the car. :-)

I helped Rachel move into her new apartment in Hillsboro yesterday afternoon...she is so excited! Her boyfriend, Kennan moves out from VA on my bday!

Speaking of birthdays, my fam and I are making our once-every-eight-years family vacation for Gordon's 21-er to Las Vegas!!!... but the time we could get together won't be until the last weekend in April right before my birthday. Convenient...muahahaha... I feel a spa treatment coming on!!! So, since we'll be gone the original time I thought I could go out, I want to go out the following weekend for my birthday...ahem, Sarah...which would be either Friday May 2 or Sat May 3... I can't decide. Friday is fun b/c you've got the whole weekend to get over the hangover and I have the dreaded LSAT class on Sunday which is no fun being hungover for. But Sat more people are out and supposedly (per my music consultant, Rachel Kelly) the music is better. Whatev. More on this later.

So I actually have a spring break! I'm so excited. Since this was my last week at the City, I asked my boss at AmeriCorps (FSELC) if I could have this next week off, and he said yes! Our month of April is absolutely insance and I figured out I haven't had a full seven days off in a row in OVER TWO YEARS. That's a freaking problem. Plus, this'll give me time to catch up on studying, clean my bloody room and car, start running/working out again, and do all of those menial tasks I've been behind on since September- when my crazy work life began.

So, yaaaay!

The weather isn't even that bad today.

Things are looking up... working one job is awesome.

Oh yeah and I love ordering things online and I ordered two books (on humorous, one technical) on working and living in Britain! :-)

The end.

Great 2008

So the last almost two years since college has ended (sigh...it seems like yesterday), I have been struggling to figure out what I want in life. Metaphorically and literally speaking.

I discovered who I was in college, rather, who I am now.

Now it's time to figure out what I want.

I know and you all know that people go through life never knowing what they want and it makes for less secure, happy people, in my opinion.

2007 just kind of was blah and sucked slightly...okay more than slightly... at least in my life and even some of those around me.
This year, the "Great 2008" is a year of transition. I had a feeling it would be even half-way through 2007 when I realized how much it was sucking and it couldn't last much longer because my life really isn't that terrible but I have problems in mi vida just as everyone else does...mine are just not equally so traumatic, but still important to me, nonetheless.

So, I've decided at the end of my AmeriCorps position, I will be moving to Scotland. This is tentative, of course, since I just decided this like three days ago. I have to get my passport and with that I can get a "National Insurance Number" which is like a SSN over here and be valid to work. However, I need to find a job as well. I talked with my mom and she said it seemed doable and I can probably stay with my uncle until I get settled.

What happened to law school, you say? I will be applying to law school while I'm over there and see which schools I get into. I'm not sure if there are interviews in the admissions process or what...like I said, all tentative.

Anywho, I'm thinking moving to Scotland for a bit will help me to figure out what I want by removing myself from, well, my life. Yes, I will create a new life for myself over there, but it won't be what I grew up around and not near as much pressure. Plus I'll get to hang out with the relatives! :-)

And of course, you are always welcome to visit!!!

Two Weeks

Yesterday I gave my two weeks to the City of Salem. On Sunday night I was stressing it... I wasn't stressing the fact that I had to tell my boss I was quitting...no, no. I was stressing the two weeks to follow. What would my co-workers say? How the heck are they going to find someone willing to work only until June and then maybe if they're lucking come on full time in Aug? I was working on several projects (nothing huge, but something) and I had created a mini-system of dealing with all of the land use applications, something no one had time for before I came... I didn't want it to wash out with me! Neither did they, I know.

So, on Sunday night I went to sleep and had many a dream. One of them included me giving my two weeks and my boss was just fine with it. Almost too fine...nonetheless, I took it as a good omen and I woke up prepared. I had typed up a letter of resignation (required by contract) and handed it to him right before the staff meeting. Easy as pie. We discussed my resignation in the staff meeting and started brainstorming ideas for my duties to be reassigned. Just like that. I can't believe it was almost like my dream!

Only they did care that I was leaving, which is always comforting.

Retrofit

I have a new haircut with bangs. They look really cute...let me rephrase that, they looked really cute when the hairdresser did them...and after that when I didn't wash my hair for as long as humanly possible so that said bangs would remain perfect. I forgot what the bangs were all about: maintenance and the occasional trail of pimples along my hairline. Woot.

So I got up this morning, went for a run, and blow dried my hair, flipping it upside down as usual... I forgot that I had bangs and they turned out to be that haircut I always wanted...when I was 8. I flattened and curled and recurled and flattened again. No such luck. I put some sticky goop in them and they looked somewhat acceptable...still not great.

I was too lazy to go out to the car and get my makeup so I used my mother's. She has this Covergirl stuff that you put on in two stages and then it stays all day...and you can't remove it. Well, what the heck? I put it on an now my lips are frosty pink.

Instead of apple-bottom jeans and boots with the fur, today I don the 90s.

Slightly Stressed in a Big Way

Okay so last week I ended up working 60+ hours and I am wiped. I skipped my LSAT class today and kinda got the shaft on this pseudo-date I was planning on. Woe is me.

So the wee little girlies out there who have been complaining about me not writing in the blog get to hear why I have not been doing so and may just wish that continues after my mini-ish vent.

Stressor #1: Work(s)- I am working two jobs and I'm pretty sure that I am at least 60 hours behind schedule to be done with AmeriCorps by Aug. 12. Not to mention, untill recently I really had nothing to do at the City of Salem but busy work and I was feeling that my time was being wasted there when I could be doing the zillion things that I have to do at FSELC (AmeriCorps).

Stressor #2, induced by Stressor #1: Food- I have seriously been on this crazy eating schedule. I was pretty damn well behaved last week (I even lost a pound!) and then I looked back and realized it was because I had evening events I had to attend and ended up just eating a measely granola bar for dinner...so for some reason I decided to binge on this delicious meal my friend Becki made (homemade rueben sandwhiches...beef marinated for eight days, and yes I'm eating meat again)...and beer, but that's in the category of its own. Oh yeah...and tonight, while reveling in the fact that I skipped my LSAT class, I downed a pint of Ben and Jerry's Banana Split...and it wasn't even that fantastic. Fuck.

Stressor #3, also induced mostly from Stressor #1, but also laziness is a factor: Working out-...or lack there of. I went jogging twice last week with my only friend in Salem (Becki) on Mon. and Tues. Since I had evening events all damn week except for Friday (and then I was so damned tired I just said "fuck it") I couldn't workout at night and I wasn't getting home until 10:30 at least so I'd be so tired from the night before I couldn't get up early.

Stressor #4:Social Life- This one is tricky... I want to continue my social life, or at least what is left of it. But with all of the above factors...it makes things difficult. Let me just say I can't wait for summer!!!! More on this one later.

Stressor #5: Men- Need I say more? Okay I will since I don't think y'all are up on the situation. Basically I still like Matt a little. But not enough to get back together with him. But definitely enough to not date anyone else seriously right now. And with all of the above factors, I have no fucking time for a boyfriend! There is this guy Jeff who I've hung out with a few times, who happens to be my friend Lisa's (college rugby teammate) older brother. I swore up and down that the next whatever wouldn't be an "older" guy simply because they *usually want to settle down. Hell I have no friggin clue where I'll be in four years (he's 27) but man that's a scary thought to think I'll be wanting to settle...NEVA!!! Muahahaha. Okay back to sane-land... anyway Jeff is really cool and smart and actually 'wants to make a difference in the world'. Wait, what?! Isn't that just for hippies and priests? OMG a real live man...perfectly normal (well so far, but quirky in a cute way) wanting to ::gasps:: do good for man kind?! Sheesh where does he think he's coming from? Anyway, I think that I would really like to stay single through the summer, it makes things less complicated. Even tho trying to stay single and 'cool' about things is a lot more complicated than it sounds.

Wow, that stressor really isn't a big one...but moreso than I thought since it's the longest written one...I guess I just like the spillin the juice, and work is boring.

Stressor #6: LSATs- Yes, yes grad school exams is what we all know and love...with a passion, no? Well my LSAT class is once a week for 14 loooong weeks in Portland on a Sunday night. You see the problem? Portland....14 weeks?? Anyway, work is really getting in the way of my study time...and working out time...and social time... and man time. Pretty much every time.

Stressor #7: Recreational Activities- aka smoking and drinking-- does the body good. not. that is one of my biggest de-motivators. It just seems so necessary to relax after a long hard week and it's part of my socializing...but then I go and do things the next day like skip my second friggin LSAT course (I can make it up online or in another class so it's not really that big of a deal) or stare at my room and know that I should clean it up but instead I'm sitting here writing a blog and catching up on the last three episodes of Brothers & Sisters. Their lives are much more dramaful than mine and everyone elses' and that's why it's such a popular show. My life doesn't blow that much. :-P

Anyway, I think that about sums up the shit factors in my life right now. I kind of have an idea to make a lot of it go away... I'm thinking (shh! don't tell anyone!) about quitting my job with the City and working just a normal schedule. That will allow me to study, workout, and eat right! Hoorah! As for themen thing, I think that's just an ongoing thing I'll just have to deal with...

So this blog has been really friggin long but you asked for it! This is why I haven't been writing in one...I was going to write in a journal but I killed two birds with one stone and now I can go to bed somewhat on time and get up early to workout, right?! Right.

Good night!

First Blog

Today is the first official blog day for me! :-) I'm sick of the MySpace blogs and I don't want everyone and their mom reading them...just my friends. We'll see... I'm not exactly sure how blogspot works, yet. But Angie and Sarah have it so I decided to be a follower. This way I can tell everyone about my mini-dramatic episodes and save my breath. However, if you know me well enough I'll probably tell you the whole entire thing in such great detail that you wish you would have just read my blog.

I have chosen the name "GreenishCass" because I am working everyday to be more and more green and to protect our lovely little (yes, little) planet. The -ish implies that I am not quite there, yet. And quite frankly, unless I live in a mud hut w/o electricity and choose to never enjoy the niceties in life (read: makeup, hair, shopping, travel), I probably won't ever be there. This isn't to say that I am half-assing it, I am just giving myself an appropriate title. Greenish is just fine with me...because, as my childhood muppet friend used to say, "It's not easy being green".

Viola. My first blog.
